Birthday Cake Oreo Truffles

Birthday Cake Oreo Truffles

A few weeks ago I was strolling through Wal-Mart looking at some new cake decorating items when I noticed they had several new brands of cake making goodies on the shelves. One of which included some new melting chocolate in flavors! Finding products you love to use in fun new flavors is kinda like Christmas for bakers, I might have done a little happy dance right there in the aisle…and that was because I found some Birthday Cake melting chocolate by ChocoMaker!

Birthday cake…in melting chocolate! I could go crazy covering things in birthday cake chocolate…or maybe simply revamp my Cake Batter Fudge!

Luckily, I knew right where to start because I had a package of my favorite Oreos in the cupboard, Birthday Cake Oreos of course which were just begging to be turned into Oreo Truffles, really they were. It almost seem too perfect.

Here’s what you’re going to need:
1 Package Birthday Cake Oreos
1/2 – 3/4 Package Philadelphia Cream Cheese
1 Package Birthday Cake ChocoMaker Melting Chocolate Wafers
1 Tsp Crisco
Sprinkles To Top (Optional)

Step 1: Blend entire package Birthday Cake Oreos in a food processor.

Step 2: Add in 1/2 package cream cheese. Blend until fully combined. If still too dry add in 1/4 package more. You can add up to the entire 8oz package but I find that it’s really soft and harder to cover in chocolate.

Step 3: Roll dough into 1 in balls and place on lined baking sheet (wax paper or parchment paper). Place in fridge to chill for at least 20 minutes.

Step 4: Once your truffles have firmed up a bit, melt your chocolate. Add in 1 Tsp of Crisco to thin your chocolate for easy dipping. I highly recommend doing so in a chocolate melter. If you want more helpful info on melting chocolate check out this post here, Melting Chocolate 101.

Step 5: Cover each truffle in melting chocolate, and place back on lined baking sheet until firm. Store in fridge.

Since I’ve shared so many truffles before I didn’t take step by step pictures this time. If you would like to see pictures of the steps check out Key Lime Pie Truffles or Sugar Cookie Truffles for more information.
