A couple of months ago my friend Nicole shared this monkey bread recipe with me and I have been wanting to blog about it ever since. I really love it! It’s easy, quick, super yummy, and yes, I’m pretty sure even a monkey really could make this bread. It’s just that crazy easy…oh and did I mention yummy? Gooey-warm-cinnamon-pull-apart-goodness for sure!
This is a perfect treat to make for entertaining guest. Which is pretty helpful when your cleaning house, preparing a meal, and wrangling toddlers. You can have it in the oven in less then 5 minutes. It’s perfect to serve warm and gooey…or let it set for awhile. And the next day it can be warmed up just a bit and it goes right back to warm, gooey, out of the oven monkey bread. Just don’t taste test it before they get there….or you might have to make another one. (and quickly wash up the evidence of the first one) ;)
The “bread” is actually Pillsbury Grands biscuits! Pretty awesome right?
Here’s what you’re going to need:
2 Cans Of Pillsbury Grands Buttermilk Biscuits
3/4 Cup Granulated Sugar
2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
1 Cup Brown Sugar
3/4 Cup Butter OR Margarine
Optional 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar + 1/3 Cup Butter For Topping The Monkey Bread
Step 1: Preheat oven to 350 and lightly grease your pan. Traditionally monkey bread is made in a fluted tube pan like I used here, but it can be made in deep baking dish as well.
Step 2: Pour sugar and cinnamon in a ziplock bag and shake. A gallon size is best, I only had XL sandwich bags and that works too of course. Just takes a little more time.
Step 3: Cut your biscuits into fourths. Using a pizza cutter makes it super easy and fast.
Step 4: Place some of the dough pieces in the cinnamon sugar bag and shake to cover.
Step 5: Begin to layer the greased pan with the dough pieces. Continue with step 4 and 5 until all the dough is covered and placed in the pan.
Step 6: Place pan in the oven and set the timer for 14 minutes.
Step 7: While the monkey bread is baking combined 3/4 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar in a small pan to make your caramel. Slowly melt together on low heat on the stove, occasionally stirring.
Step 8: Once the timer goes off at 14 minutes pour the caramel over the monkey bread. Make sure to pour around the outside rim so the caramel and cover the top well. Place back in the oven for an additional 14 minutes.
Step 9: Let cool for a few minutes, then flip over using a round plate.
Step 10: OPTIONAL – Once my bread is out I like to cover it in even more thick caramel. To do this melt another 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/3 cup butter together then pour over. Oh and I added a little sprinkles….because it just didn’t feel right posting without them!
Can you believe how easy that was? This has definitely became a go to for entertaining here at the Miller house. Now I’m brainstorming more flavors we could create using this same technique! I hope you guys enjoy is as much as we do. :)

This looks amazingly sweet and moist!
Great recipe. I love quick and pretty recipes – they are always a show stopper:)
I also appreciate that you do your instructions with pictures (and your pics are beautiful), but I love that you put the concentrated version at the end for easy printing. Thanks so much!
Oh man this looks good.
