Birthday Cake Batter Spoons

Birthday Cake Batter Spoons

I know it’s been a little too quiet around here this week, it’s been one of those weeks for this baker. The kind where you want to just sit down with a bowl of chocolate frosting and let your thoughts drift into a sugar coma, you know what I’m talking about right? Thankfully I opted for a much less dramatic option instead, Birthday Cake Batter Spoons! Easy to make, easy to enjoy, easy to hide in the freezer and sneak them out when your having a stress induced chocolate attack – I mean share them, yes share them. Wink, wink.

Why has it been so crazy here at the sprinkle factory you ask? Those of you who follow MBC on Instagram might have noticed we added a little four legged addition to the family. Anybody that knows me know I am just not an animal person, just not me. However, silly me jokingly gave in to the demands of the hubs and the kiddos and agreed to a pet, under one condition – we named it Sprinkles. The hubs would never go for that right? Wrong. All the sudden my fun outlet shopping trip turns into hey what do you know the shelter with the doggy he wants to look at is 2 miles away, let’s go look! Next thing I know we’re bringing home a dog – named Sprinkles.

I have to admit she’s pretty sweet. But she’s having a hard time adjusting. The poor little thing won’t get out of bed or even open her eyes. So I’ve spent the week babying her and waiting at the vet while they basically pump nutrition and fluids into her trying to get her to thrive. So yea, it’s been one of those weeks. Which brings me back to these stress reducing (just go with it) Birthday Cake Batter Spoons.

I was first inspired to make these treats when the ever so sweet Sarah from Candiquik posted these Peanut Butter Truffle Spoons. I thought WHY have I not been making chocolate dipped spoon? WHY?! I had to try some out and since Sarah already made my first favorite flavor combo, I had to resort to my second obviously, birthday cake batter! You guys are going to LOVE this! It’s seriously yummy and soft it’s like cookie dough but tastes like birthday cake, oh and did I mention the white chocolate!

Here’s what you’re going to need:

1 Cup Pillsbury Yellow Cake Mix
1 Cup Flour
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 Tsp. Vanilla
4 Tbsp. Melted Butter
4-5 Tbsp. Milk
4 Bricks Of White Candiquik Candy Coating
Sprinkles

Step 1: Mix together all ingredients except Candiquik candy coating and sprinkles. Work it together until it becomes a nice dough. Let the dough chill in the fridge for about 20 minutes.

Step 2. Once chilled spoon though dough into each spoon then gently flatten it out with another utensil or a clean finger. Lay them out on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Step 3: Melt Candiquik candy coating. I like to use my Wilton Chocolate melter but you can also do so in the microwavable tray that comes with the candy coating. For more information on how I melt chocolate check out Melting Chocolate 101. Once chocolate is melted dip each spoon in top facing down, turn over and gently tap then scrap excess chocolate on the bottom off and place on wax paper.

Step 4: Add sprinkles and let dry. You will want to add sprinkles after you cover each spoon or the chocolate will harden too fast for them to stick.

  1. You don’t bake the cake batter?

    • Nope! It’s made from a cake mix into a dough but it’s not really “batter” no eggs or oil or anything harmful!

  2. Aww, congrats on little sprinkles – Your chocolate dipped spoons would be the cutest addition to any party and for the celebration of Sprinkles!

  3. These are amazing!!! I have to make the birthday cake version! Sharing far & wide ;).
